Students at Woodkirk Academy are celebrating success in GCSEs and BTECs this week.
Principal, Mr Tim Jones, said: “We are delighted with the outcomes achieved by our students; it was wonderful to celebrate with them as they collected their results. The pandemic had a most significant impact on this cohort’s transition into secondary school. In spite of this, they have grown into a fabulous year group with an outstanding attitude. As ever, the teachers went out of their way to offer the very best support and students responded brilliantly. My great thanks go to everybody involved in such a superb team effort. I am delighted that students have been rewarded with such fantastic results and we are looking forward to welcoming so many to Woodkirk Academy Sixth Form and achieve more successes in the future. Our best wishes go to all of our students.”
Mr Darren Currie, Vice Principal, praised the efforts of students and thanked parents for their ongoing support. “The great majority of our students have worked incredibly hard throughout the year and have demonstrated the Woodkirk Academy values of Work Hard, Be Kind, Take Responsibility. Students fully deserve the results they have achieved and my thanks go to parents for their continued support.”

Students in Year 13 at Woodkirk Academy are celebrating once again this year. Due to the impact of RAAC, this year’s Year 13 cohort were without a dedicated Sixth Form centre throughout the first year of their Key Stage 5 study, which affected their independent study, mentoring and social areas. Nonetheless, this year’s outcomes represent the highest achieved at Woodkirk Academy, building on the success of 2024, which placed the school in the top five Sixth Form providers in the city.
Principal Mr Tim Jones said “We are, once again, delighted by these outcomes and the students and staff at Woodkirk Academy should be proud of the grades that have been attained. They have worked incredibly hard, and have shown a great deal of determination and resilience. I wish all of our students the very best for the future; I look forward to hearing about their ongoing successes.”
Assistant Principal and Director of Sixth Form Mrs Kathryn Clarke said “For the huge majority, the outcomes reflect the outstanding work ethic that has been demonstrated and I am delighted that so many have successfully secured a place at their first-choice destination. Well done to them all and good luck as they move on to pastures new. We can’t wait to welcome next year’s cohort to Woodkirk Academy Sixth Form.”
